Torre de Centum Cellas (Centum Cellae, Centum Celli, Centum Caeles, Centcellas, Centum Coeli)
This curious Roman building still stands tall in the center of what appears to be an old Roman military camp. The purpose of this building, however, is a mystery. It is too small to be a fort, not situated on a hill to be a look-out tower and not exactly right for any other purpose. It gets its name from the old Portuguese belief that it was a prison with 100 small cells inside.
